Disguise Nicks and Scratches in Furniture:
Shoe polish is the perfect camouflage. It's opaque, it comes in a variety of colors and it's removable. If you don't like the way it looks, wipe it away with mineral spirits.
1. To fill a scratch, look for a shoe-polish paste that matches the furniture finish.
2. When you've achieved the desired color, apply the polish to the scratch or blemish using a cotton swab.
3. Let polish dry 10-15 minutes, and then gently buff with a clean cloth.
